Happy Bloomsday, or, Education is an Experience - Part Two

On the eve of Bloomsday and one week before my 2010 students walk across the stage for Convocation, I am inspired by the thought of tens of thousands celebrating an "imaginary" day in 1904 when an "imaginary" person walked through Dublin in a stream of consciousness...

I am extremely proud of my students (as always) and hope they have gained the "book knowledge" + the gift of experience which will help them reach their goals long into the future.

From Leopold Bloom aka James Joyce:
"In spite of careful and repeated reading of certain classical passages, aided by a glossary, he had derived imperfect conviction from the text, the answers not bearing in all points."

Indeed, book learning can only take us so far... but it sure helps - that, and a little help from our friends.
Happy Bloomsday.
